When it comes to providing support for your early years Ofsted inspection The Change Agency has a wealth of practical experience to draw on and offers  early years consultancy  services to leaders and owners in the childcare field.  This combined with coaching and mentoring skills has equipped me to provide to support you on your childcare work. I bring over 30 years experience in the field of childcare and early years. I have developed and delivered a number of training and quality support programmes including, assessments visits and pre inspections audits. I have proven track record in quality assurance, early years self- evaluation and am a qualified leadership coach and an approved early years inspector.

 Preparation for your Early Years Inspection

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the Common Inspection Framework introduced in 2015 promotes ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ childcare practice for all children.

Inspections from September 2015 onwards are carried out under the Common Inspection Framework (CIF). Grades are now given for overall effectiveness and four key judgements. Including: -Effectiveness of leadership and management

– Quality of teaching and learning

– Personal development, behavior and welfare

-Outcomes for children

Previously Ofsted found the quality of care and education in a third of nurseries and childminders in England was not good enough. While most settings are rated as good and some being rated as outstanding. There are still a high number of settings that require improvement or are inadequate.

The government wants to improve early year’s provision for children in all settings. It also makes good business sense to improve your setting inspection outcome and improve your business.

Safeguarding

One of the key elements of leadership in early years settings is safeguarding. The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation and the Safeguarding and Welfare requirements states that providers must ensure that all staff have up to date knowledge of safeguarding issues.  There is now an increased emphasis on Safeguarding.  Even if your provision is ‘good’ and children are learning but it is judged to be not a safe environment and staff don’t have a good understanding of safeguarding it’s hard to achieve a good Ofsted judgement. It is now more important than ever to keep all your staff fully updated in all aspects of safeguarding with regular training and support.

Staff development

Developing your staff is key to creating a quality early years setting. Through high quality induction, supervision, appraisals, coaching and mentoring, peer observations and  understanding safeguarding, your setting can improve the quality of the service that you are currently offering.
